The Hive·Grown-Up Stuff
The manual nobody handed us

You flew the nest and the world handed you zero instructions

Taxes, a credit card, a lease, and nobody to ask. These are the plain-language guides for the stuff school skipped, written for people figuring it out in real time. Every one takes about five minutes, points at the official source for your country, and asks nothing of you.

Why this exists

Nobody is born knowing any of this

Adulthood arrives with paperwork and no tutorial. Most people learn this by getting it wrong first, expensively, and then never mentioning it to anyone. There is nothing clever about knowing how escrow works. Somebody just told you.

These guides are a starting point, not professional financial, tax, legal, or medical advice. Where you live, your citizenship, and your circumstances can all change the answer, so every guide points at the official source for your country before you make a real decision.

What a Credit Card Actually Is

It's not free money. It's a tiny loan you take out every time you swipe - and it's either free or brutally expensive depending on one habit.

A Budget You Won't Hate

Not a spreadsheet you'll abandon in a week. Just knowing where it goes, and telling it where to go first.

Debt: How to Dig Out

It's not a character flaw. It's a math problem with a couple of known exits.

How these guides are maintained

Plain guidance, with a clear boundary

The Hive writes and maintains these guides as practical starting points. Country-specific help points to official public services or named support organizations where they are available. Dates on each guide show when its content was published and last reviewed.

These pages do not replace advice from a qualified professional who knows your location and circumstances. Before acting on financial, tax, legal, housing, or medical information, confirm the current answer with the official source linked for your country.

If a source, phone number, or explanation is wrong or out of date, please tell us through Hive Ideas. Corrections should be specific and will be reviewed before the guide is updated.

The other half of looking after yourself

Some of it is not paperwork

Looking after yourself means the boring admin, and it also means the harder things: a relationship that costs more than it gives, a habit that stopped being a choice, or a friend who has gone quiet in a way that worries you.

You're Not Alone is the other half of this library. It covers abuse, grooming, manipulation, gambling and gaming addiction, sextortion, doxxing, and how to help someone you love, with free crisis lines listed by country.

Free, and staying that way

No ads, no tracking, no catch

The Hive is a home for Die Hard Gamers alumni and anyone else who finds their way here. These guides are free because somebody should have handed them to us.
